Since my last note on my dislike of the CRB check (because it is proven a leaky ship to set sail in) ..the law on CRB has changed.
& as the wife is on the comittee (albeit in a very minor capacity) for our daughters local cub & beaver scouts, I have more involvement.
Therefore I wondered how I stood? (upright but with a slouch in case you're wondering).
Seems you CAN now be classed as an occasional helper & remain crb checked as long as you are not left alone with children, (which I wouldn't want to be anyhow), but it does give headroom now for parents to pop in & help ad-hoc (often what a group needs) without fear of recrimination.
So do think about more than simply dropping off your kid at their weekly scouting group meets & offering a hand now & again, it's pretty rewarding knowing you can offer a hand without going through all the hoops!
It has since made me think, a lot & i've ended up creating a website for my local group, ..if it's not up I apologise, sometimes published for test purposes, but still needs to be passed by the comittee...
1stramseyscoutgroup.weebly.com ..it's lego based to hopefully keep the kids a bit happier!
The idea is to keep it simple (like this, a drag & drop site useable by just about anybody).
Anyhow back on track, there are also now different levels of CRB (i've listed them on the above site, which will make less hoop-jumping & hopefully mean crb's are less awful than they currently are.
& yes having made them a website photo's of children do concern me, so I will be getting a basic crb before I hand over the site, just to be on the safe side, s now it can be prety much done online for the simpler variants.
(still hate em though)
